In the current turbulent times it does not always have to be a long distance journey. So I had the idea to take a short trip to Amsterdam. The capital of the Netherlands has a lot to offer. No matter if you are interested in culture, history, architecture or just relaxing - in Amsterdam you are right.
Here you can see some of my impressions
At City trips I always recommend using the knowledge of the locals. Here you can find for example getyourguide* on. There you can book guided tours and activities as private tours or in small groups in advance. Interesting here are for example the tour "Anne Frank & Second World War"* or "Moco Museum: Banksy & More with admission without queuing“*. Also the exhibition "Body Worlds"* is absolutely worth seeing.
Where is the best place to stay in Amsterdam? Since the best way to get around the city is on foot or by bike, I recommend centrally located hotels. My favourite hotels are: NH Collection Amsterdam Doelen*. Perfectly situated in the middle of the canals. Many good restaurants in the immediate vicinity (you can fully trust the concierge's recommendations).
Another favorite is the Pestana Amsterdam Riverside*. In this listed building you will find a very modern facility. Interesting here are the Bike-rental tariffs, which include a rental bike for 3 hours, a map and a welcome drink for an additional 1-2 Euros.
I recommend to book directly with the hotels here, as both hotels mentioned have interesting loyalty programs with extensive discounts.
To the sea
If you have a few days more time, a day trip to the sea is also worthwhile, for example to Wijk aan zee. Be it to visit old bunkers from the Second World War or just to relax on the beach and watch the kite surfers.
Amsterdam is actually easy to reach by all means of transport. As parking facilities in the city are clearly arranged and expensive, one alternative is to park at the airport, e.g. with airparks (Cheap parking at Amsterdam Airport)* with valet parking is cheaper than in the multi-storey car parks directly at the airport and then by train the approx. 20 minutes to the city centre.
Or you can travel by train. With the savings price Europe cheap to the Netherlands! Book now online at bahn.de.*
If you are travelling from further afield, flying is also an option. Coming from the Black Forest I like to use the Swiss from Zurich. Discover the world with SWISS!* You can find other cheap options at kiwi.com
